چکیده

Abstract We predict waterflood displacement on a pore-by-pore basis using pore network modelling. The structure is captured by high-resolution image. then use an energy balance applied to images of the assign average contact angle, and modify local pore-scale angles in model about this mean match observed sequence. Two waterflooding experiments oil-wet rocks are analysed where sequence was imaged time-resolved synchrotron imaging. In both cases capillary pressure matches experimentally obtained values derived from measured interfacial curvature. relative permeability for full saturation range. Using optimised distributed randomly space has little effect predicted pressures permeabilities, indicating that spatial correlation wettability not significant these samples. calibrated can be used properties outside range conditions considered experiment.

Finger Thickening during Extra-Heavy Oil Waterflooding: Simulation and Interpretation Using Pore-Scale Modelling

Although thermal methods have been popular and successfully applied in heavy oil recovery, they are often found to be uneconomic or impractical. Therefore, alternative production protocols are being actively pursued and interesting options include water injection and polymer flooding. Indeed, such techniques have been successfully tested in recent laboratory investigations, where X-ray scans pe...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Pore Scale Model of Wet Granular Material

Landslides are one of the main natural threats for both people and infrastructure in mountainousregions. In most cases, landslides are triggered by the loss of cohesion in a soil due to the increasingliquid saturation level after long or intense rainfalls. Only little is known on the triggering of failuresat the microscopic scale due to the limited experimental accessibility and the...

Pore Shapes and Pore Geometry of Reservoir Rocks from μ-CT Imaging and Digital Image Analysis

Recent years have seen a growing interest in the characterization of the pore morphologies of reservoir rocks and how the spatial organization of pore geometry affects the macroscopic behaviour of rock-fluid systems. With the availability of highresolution 3D imaging, such as X-ray micro-computed tomography (μ-CT), the detailed quantification of particle shapes has been facilitated by progress ...
